The Butterfly Garden is a music blog featuring original songs and lyrics that I’ve written as a young widower and widowed parent. My intention is to post a new song each month, with the lyrics and the story of why the song was written.
The blog is not strictly chronological, so the songs can be listened to in any order at any time. However the first blog post and song is intended to be a gateway into this garden, and can be found from this link:
‘Introducing the butterfly garden‘
I think of each song as a butterfly in a garden of memory and emotion. Over time, there will be many songs in the butterfly garden. Some will reflect the happiness and love I shared with my late wife, Charlotte. Others will reflect the grief journey through sadness and loss. However, I hope some of the songs will also show that a good life can still grow after bereavement.
There is no single way of grieving, and no right or wrong, when it comes to the loss of a partner at a young age. If you are a young widow, widower, or widowed parent, I hope you will find these songs helpful to listen to. If you haven’t been bereaved in this way, I hope they will help you to understand what we go through a little better.
And maybe these songs will help you to visit your own butterfly garden, with all the memories and stories and emotions and love that you hold inside yourself for that special person in your life. Either way, thank you so much for reading and listening to this blog, it really means a lot to me.
Best wishes, John Crozier
